Let's tackle the sun section of this project. I really like making my sun images in this type of work friendly looking and warm. I used four layers counting the facial features. In the following steps you will see that this is a relatively easy section of this project.
| First we need to cut a circle of orange from 4-6 ½ inches in diameter depending on the size of the project. |  |

Then draw a solar flare design around the circle with in a ring from 3-5 ½ inches to the outside of the circle as in the illustration. |
| Now we need to cut out the design. |  |

Now we are going to do the same thing with a red circle. |
| Make this in a ring ½ inch from the outside of the circle as you see in the illustration. |  |

Again cut out the design. |
| Now a yellow circle needs to be cut ½ inches smaller than the red circle. |  |

You will need to cut a pair of ears for your happy sun. These ears can be any size that you want however I would suggest that you keep them no large than about ½ the diameter of the circle. When you glue the ears on the paper make sure you place them under the yellow circle. |
| Now you need to create a face for your sun. You may copy mine by printing the illustration or try to draw your own. Here's a little hint for the budding cartoonist out there. If you want your character to look happy make sure that the eyebrows are tilted up. |  |

Before you glue them in place do an experiment and tilt them down. Your face should look cross. Just remember to glue them happy. |
| Okay let's start the assembly. Lay the orange cutout down or glue it to a piece of cardboard. Next fit the red cut out in an attractive manner. That is to say try not to line up the cutouts, keep the designs off center. |  |

Next align the yellow circle in the center. |
| Before you glue it completely down fit the ears under the yellow circle as illustrated. |  |

Now glue on the facial features. There you go a happy sun for the beach. |
