A Day at the Beach, paper cutting lesson from Home School Arts page 1
A Day at the Beach, Page 7

With all of the components finished we are finally ready for the final assembly of the project.

This is what your first component should resemble. The sky, sea and some of the beach.
Now we need to add the cloud components to the scene. You may place them anywhere that you want. Please do not feel restricted to this plan unless you like it.
Placement of the sun is important only in that the angle of the face should look like the sun is looking at the children on the beach.
Placement of the palm trees is up to you. You may want to put two of them on the right and one on the left. If you do just remember that the scene needs to be balanced so it is pleasing to look at.
When adding the leaves be careful not to hide too much of the scene behind them unless you glue them so that when they are folded over they will reveal the hidden objects.
At this point you should add the bucket and shovel then the girl and then the boy.
Find the top beach cut out and attach it to the scene now.
Finally add the coconuts in the trees and on the beach. Adding some of them behind some of the leaves and beach components will add depth to your work.

That's it all done! Well, not necessarily. If you want to add small shells or other objects that you think should be on the beach feel free. This is your dream beach and you can create it any way that you choose.

What do you think? Do the children draw you into the scene? Keep checking back for some more cut or torn paper sculpting. We have a few more projects in the works and we will add them as we finish them.
