A Closer Look
After you cut and straighten the hanger it will measure approximately 32-34 inches long. For this mobile we will need three rods one at 18 inches, one at 20 inches and one at 22 inches finished. The smaller will go on the bottom of the mobile so that when completed it will be from 22 inches on top to 18 inches on the bottom.

Find the center of the wire and mark it with a sharpie or other marking tool. Hold the dowel or clamp it to a table or vice and make a complete bend as in the illustration above and right and below to the left.

After you have made the loop, measure 9 inches from the center of the loop toward the end of the wire and make a mark on each side.

After you have made the loop, measure 9 inches from the center of the loop toward the end of the wire and make a mark on each side. Using the same dowel make a loop on the topside of the wire. Refer to the illustration of the rod to see that all the loops are on the topside of the wire. Then cut the wire just above where the loop reaches the wire as in the illustration to the right.

Using your pliers squeeze the wire loop until it meets the top of the wire. Do this again measuring from the center loop at 11 inches from center and one at 13 inches from center. You will now have three rods measuring approximately 18 inches, 20 inches and 22 inches.
